My wife is simply an amazing woman. She’s an incredible mother, a loving and caring wife, and my best friend. She’s one of the strongest people I know and has a faith in God that I admire deeply. Beyond all that, she’s an incredible artist! I’m so lucky. I’m not sure why it took me so long to highlight her work on my blog, but alas… you must see her talent!

Many of my readers may know that we recently brought a new child into the world…. 2 months ago. My wife, being the amazing woman that she is… decided to take on an illustration project that demands pretty much every spare minute of her time - she’s done an amazing job so far! Many of her peers thought she was crazy for agreeing to illustrate a book with a brand new baby in the house, but that didn’t stop her - she’s nothing short of incredible.

If you have a few minutes to spare, go check out her website.

This is the final artwork for our upcoming Christmas series. Oddly enough, we are doing our Christmas series in November…. and not extending it into the month of December. The thinking behind that was actually pretty logical. The series is about getting back to the heart and simplicity of Christmas; slowing down our busy, consumer minded lives and bring it back to the birth of a Savior. We figured that if we did this series in December, it would be too late to get people to rethink the Christmas season, because most people’s Christmas season begins in November.

Also, I thought it would be fun to show a screenshot of the layers from the working file for this design. There were close to 100 layers on this one, which is probably higher than normal. I think my average layer count is in the 70’s.

Again, maybe I’m being unfair, but I think it’s at least worth talking about.

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post and that’s because I’ve been extremely busy. For the last few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to serve a family that is dealing with an incredible tragedy. Tiffanie Wyke was a 25 y/o single mother of 2 young boys, 6 and 3 years old. About 7 weeks ago, she went into the hospital to be treated for what she thought was endometriosis, as it turns out… she was diagnosed with small cell ovarian cancer and given no more then 1 Month To Live… literally. Her story can be seen here at about the 26 minute mark - she showed up at CCV seeking an encounter with God and she found Him… He found her. Her story is nothing short of remarkable and tragic at the same time… I’m truly blessed to have been involved in a very small way.

CCV worked very closely with the family of Tiffanie in an effort to support their struggle with this situation. We decided to send Tiffanie, her boys, and the rest of her immediately family on a 3 day trip to Southern California; they went to the beach and Legoland. I was honored with the opportunity to travel with the family and capture their memories with photographs and be a representative of CCV and more importantly… a representative of the Kingdom of God - it was an amazing trip! Tiffanie made it through the trip to San Diego but it wasn’t easy… and she passed 10 days later. I was able to build a slideshow for the family with photos from the trip, and I also put together a slideshow of photos from her life for her memorial service. This experience, for me, has been humbling… eye opening… and gave us all a bit of a wake-up-call. The God ordained part of Tiffanie’s story is that our church has just wrapped up the “1 Month To Live” sermon series… her story has ministered to thousands of people - thousands! Her death, while extremely tragic and heart-breaking… will be used to God’s glory for years to come.
